Communicating COVID-19 test results
Please report COVID-19 test results as soon as they are received to the school nurse on the nursing office direct line (860) 228-4933 during school hours. If you receive your test results out of normal school hours, email ghsnurse@hebron.k12.ct.us. The nurse will respond during work hours. If you do not receive a timely response, please call the health office.
Sick Day Guidelines - When to keep your child home from school
Parents and staff are requested to complete a short checklist each morning. If students or staff have any of the CDC listed COVID-19 KEY symptoms (highlighted in red below), they must remain at home and contact the School Nurse to report symptoms and get guidance on return to school. If a student has more than one non-key symptom, they should stay home and consult with the school nurse about next steps. If a student has vomited or had diarrhea, they should stay home for 24 hours from the last episode.
KEY Symptoms: stay home, get tested, and consult with school nurse if student is experiencing any of these symptoms
- Fever 100.4 and above
- Chills
- New Cough (above baseline for asthma/allergy chronic cough)
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste or smell
NON KEY COVID Symptoms: stay home and consult with school nurse if student experiencing 2 or more of these symptoms
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Muscle or body aches
- New Headache
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
Stay home for 24 hours from last episode of the following:
All students and staff that are absent from school must fill out the Reason for Absence google form, found on the Health Department tab on Hebron Public schools website, or call your student's school nurse to report the reason for absence.
